What on earth is Schemattic 4? Schemattic 4 is the engine that powers the Abrasive Monologue platform, Search Engine Optimization, Structured Data Output, Artist Management, Catalog Management, Discord Dispatching, Embedded Audio and Video Players, GDPR, Analytics, Marketplaces, User Interaction Surface and Inter-site Communication Network (VaultArc 2), Push Notification System, Like, Follow and Review systems.. We could keep going but… You get the idea. It’s the operating system that forms the heart of what we do and who we are.

Why Does It Matter?

It’s rare for a group of independent artists to fully control the space they inhabit and Schemattic allows us to do that in ways that no one else does. It helps keep us aligned to our mission to step outside the algorithm and our secondary mission, which is to create spaces free of them completely.

What Does That Mean For You?

Schemattic affords us an opportunity to do something different. Hadley believes in the concept of synergy. No free lunches, everyone helps everyone else… The world tries to achieve this in many ways and often fails miserably. We’re trying to change the model for synergy and create something that works.

In the coming days, weeks or months… maybe. We’ll be rolling out the Abrasive Monologues Marketplace, both the label version that includes our artists, as well as a more open concept beta version (Coming Later). Once you sign up for an account, you’ll see a persistent box in the lower right with a points value. If you click it, it will show you how to earn points on the system which is easy… interact and take part. Those points can later be spent on free music, sometimes merch, ad spots in publications and anything else we can think of that can work with the system.

Wait? Did you say cash free economy? Yes. I did. Cash minimal anyway. The more you help us grow, the more you get out of it that doesn’t cost you a dime. We used to do this all the time before Spotify and algorithms took over the world. This is just a modern way of getting back to basics.

Just filling out your profile information gives us valuable market data that we didn’t have to be sneaky to ask you for. We don’t sell it, we don’t trade it… We use it to get better at making the music we hope that you love. Telling us your age range, what you listen on, your favorite medium, what you’re normally doing when you listen… All of those things are incredibly good data about who our listeners are. Here’s the real indicator of where Schemattic was born and where it wants to go… None of it’s required. You don’t have to answer any of those questions, but just know that it helps if you do.

If you don’t sell demographic or market segment data, user lists or anything the algorithm considers valuable… What’s in for you?

You are. I don’t care about algorithms. I think they are a tumor on the spine of society that suppress originality for the recipe that pleases them. They represent creative servitude and I serve no one but me. I don’t do this for money, I do it because I love it. I fund Abrasive Monologues almost completely out of pocket and let’s face it… Streaming does not pay for all of this by any stretch of the imagination. You do… When you actively engage on good platforms like Bandcamp, rather than Spotify.
