If I’m talking about it, you can already assume I think this is a pretty crispy track. But again, the experience tends to make the story or me. Looking back on my daily streams, it was always especially fun to see what independent musicians with little to no budget would submit during our popular music video hunts. We always had plenty of fun lyrics videos and pretty cool stories from different clips, but it was more rare for an artist to go out and fight Tauntauns on the ice planet Hoth just to sing a song about birds. It was pretty freaking spectacular, at least to me and a bunch of folks in the Indie Music Hunt bubble.
I often see myself as easily impressed, but I’m not 100% convinced of that. I’ve known a lot of people in my life, and very few actually launch from idea to creation. The number of aspiring authors who actually finish writing their book is some obscenely low number like 3%. How many artists are just going to jump out there in a short-sleeve shirt in this weather for the love of the game? Maybe some, but I’ve talked to Kanilrós. He isn’t on some aspirational quest to fame or money from this. He’s a talented dude, working with tons of musicians, and from my angle, he seems to be having a good time doing it. I absolutely love that.
Outside of singing about birds, Kanilrós’s catalog is an absolute journey from beautiful soundscapes to insane insane guitar riffing. There is a lot to love and admire here, but something about this man just going out and making this video (at least partly because we were sitting around enjoying music together) is the standout memory. I dare you to dive into his catalog and not find a song you like.
Stay Crispy,
Host
If you’re wondering if Kanilrós can “Weather the Storm“, I believe the answer is yes.
